Bundle Project continues

Last spring, my sister lost her first child after six months of pregnancy. Since then, several families I am close to have experienced stillbirths. In processing the grief of my niece Sofia's death, I began making bundles out of the clothes I had bought in anticipation of her, Little Rabbit. These bundles represented the potentiality of this child: her holiness, specificity and purity.

Recently, I gave Sofia's bundles to some dear friends whose baby girl was born still. This action has inspired this project.

If you or someone you know has lost a baby before, during or soon after birth, I would like to make bundles for them, using clothes they bought or made in preparation for the child who died. Naturally, since I regard my work as a memorial to these children, I will of course not accept any payment for this. I have a collection of used baby clothes that I am open to using in bundle-making, however I would like to make each set of bundles with an individual child in mind. Each set of bundles will be made to the weight of the child at time of birth, if it is known.

As I continue to make bundles for families, I would like to gather these into a space and exhibit them.  This exhibition would involve showing these bundles and potentially function as a fundraiser for services for families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn loss. I am currently researching venues for this exhibition.
